Brief Position Summary:

- Supervise all aspects of the Navigation Department including control of all positioning aspects of survey operations, and on board navigation processing when necessary.

- Be responsible for the quality and timely delivery of all positioning products. Promote, and ensure adherence to all relevant safety policies and procedures.

- Actively support and promote HSEQ policies

Main Tasks

* With the Party Chief and the other section Chiefs, plan for safe and timely execution of surveys, ensuring that the positioning products meet the necessary quality acceptance criteria. Ensure consistent logs are maintained at all times.

* Assist the Captain / Party Chief in ensuring all crewmembers are aware of, understand, and follow the Company HSEQ policies.

* Be responsible for appraising and developing subordinates within the guidelines set on the crew. Supervise sub-contractors and ensure they operate in accordance with HSEQ policies and guidelines.

* Act as the Positioning department focal point in providing pertinent information and feedback to Clients, Party Chief, and office based support personnel. Ensure reports, including the Final Job Report, are updated accurately and in a timely manner.

* Be responsible for ensuring the department is supporting the overall acquisition process, with particular reference to inter- departmental co-operation including maritime operations.

* Ensure a complete inventory is maintained and that sufficient spares are available.

Internal relations:

* Party Chief, Assistant Party Chief, other departments on board, technical group in office.

External relations:

* On-board Client representatives, Contract personnel, Maritime crew.

Supervision of personnel:

* Supervision of other crew-members, both within the department, and external contractors.

Technical qualifications:

* Strong understanding of survey and geodetic principles. Experience and understanding of Seismic Positioning systems. Ability to produce clear and accurate written reports. A strong awareness and commitment to QHSEQ. Ability to organize, supervise and motivate co- workers. Good command of English, both written and oral.

Experience:

* Minimum 5 years’ experience with marine seismic 3-D navigation, preferably with 3 years Ocean Bottom Cable experience. Degree in Marine Science, Electronics, Technology or equivalent is desirable.

Personal qualifications

Innovative and able to learn new skills. Also able to work unsupervised and under pressure; and a willingness to be part of a team environment.

* Frequent worldwide, and sometimes on short notice

Other Requirements:

* Valid Passport and applicable Visas medically fit for work offshore, both physically and psychologically. A good command of English language, both written and oral, is compulsory.
