Brief Position Summary:
- Operate and maintain the navigation related equipment aboard the seismic vessels. Promote and ensure adherence to, all relevant safety policies and procedures.
Main Tasks
* Operate and maintain the positioning equipment to ensure survey goals are met. Assist in maintenance and deployment of the in-sea equipment.
* Ensure that the positioning products meet the necessary quality acceptance criteria, and that consistent accurate and complete logs are maintained at all times.
* Assist in ensuring all crewmembers are aware of, understand, and follow the Company HSEQ policies.
* Actively develop personal skills, and assist in training co-workers as appropriate.
* Ensure reports and logs, including the Final Job Report are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
* Assist in maintaining the departmental inventory, and ensuring sufficient spares are available as required.
* Assist other departments when required to ensure efficient crew operations.

Technical qualifications:
* Understanding of survey and geodetic principles. Understanding of Seismic Positioning systems. Ability to produce clear and accurate written reports. A strong awareness and commitment to HSEQ. Good command of English, both written and oral.
Experience:
* Minimum 3 months experience with marine seismic acquisition. (Typically 2 trips as trainee) Degree in Marine Science, Electronics, Technology or equivalent is desirable.
Personal qualifications
Innovative, co-operative, ability to learn new skills and to work with limited supervision. Willingness to work in a team environment.
Physical requirements:
* Good physical fitness and health. The position requires long hours of physical work in a harsh environment aboard the vessel. Ability to carry out work equivalent to lifting and carrying 20 kg weight is a requirement.
Requirement to travel:
* Frequent, worldwide and sometimes on short notice.
Other Requirements:
* Valid passport, applicable visas, and medically fit for work offshore, both physically and psychologically. A good command of English language, both written and oral, is compulsory.
