Qualifications And Experience: Should preferably have a Chief Engineers licence and at least 12 months experience as Second Engineer.

The 2nd Engineer is responsible for all engine and engine equipment is working satisfactory and to report any deficiency to the Chief Engineer

In General: All machinery and technical equipment during his watch.

Supervise and follow up engine crew on same watch and/or daytime.

Carry out 2nd engineer’s duties in line with International standards lay down in IMO’s rules and legislation’s and according to “Good seamanship”.

Good maintenance, housekeeping, orderliness and cleanliness in the engine room.

Administration

* Keep “Engine Logbook” and “Oil Logbook” updated as applicable.

* Update “Maintenance and spare program” as necessary.

* Consumption of spare parts: Enter in Maintenance and Purchase program

* Maintenance and repair work done: Enter in Maintenance and Purchase program.

* Handover for next shift

Operation

* According to Chief Engineer Standing Order.

* Responsible for all machinery and technical equipment’s on board during his watch.

* Faults to be corrected at once. If any doubt, call chief engineer.

Maintenance

* Administrate and supervise Scheduled jobs to be carried out according to “Maintenance and Spare Program”.

HSEQ

* HSEQ system: Comply fully the requirements in the Company’s HSEQ system, national as well as internationals rules and legislation’s and other precautions currently valid on board.

* Drills: Participate in drills according to drill matrix.

* HSEQ Activities: Actively take part in HSEQ meetings and programs, Non-conformities reporting etc.

* HSEQ plan: Ensure HSEQ Plan is implemented on board.

Personal

* Certificates: Ensure STCW required certificates, HSE certificates, annual medical, required vaccination and other applicable and Company required certificates are valid at all time.

* QHSE & Maritime Courses and seminars: Attend as required by the Company.

Emergency procedure

* Duty according to mustering list and emergency plan.
